Condensation & Mould Control
Expert ventilation solutions and mould remediation for a healthy home.
What Causes Condensation & Mould?
Condensation is the most common cause of damp in UK homes. It occurs when warm, moist air comes into contact with a cold surface, causing water droplets to form. Everyday activities like cooking, showering, and even breathing produce litres of water vapour. If this moisture isn't able to escape, it will condense on cold spots like windows, external walls, and in corners.
This excess moisture creates the perfect breeding ground for black mould (Aspergillus niger). Not only is mould unsightly, but it can also damage your property and pose a health risk, particularly for those with respiratory issues, allergies, or a weakened immune system.
Mould often starts in corners with poor air circulation.
Windows are common cold spots where condensation forms.
Common Signs of Condensation
The signs of a condensation problem are usually quite obvious and are often most noticeable during colder months. They include:
Water Droplets on Windows
Steamed-up windows and puddles of water on your windowsills are a classic sign of excess airborne moisture.
Black Mould Growth
Speckled black dots or larger patches of mould appearing on walls, ceilings, behind furniture, or around window frames.
Damp, Musty Smell
A persistent damp or earthy smell, particularly in rooms that are not well-ventilated like bedrooms and bathrooms.
Peeling Decor
Moisture can cause wallpaper to peel and paint to blister, similar to other forms of damp.
Our Solution: Ventilation & Remediation
The key to solving condensation and mould is to manage the moisture levels in your home through adequate ventilation. Our approach tackles the problem at its source and removes existing contamination.
PIV systems provide whole-house ventilation.
Extractor fans remove moisture at the source.
Our Process Includes:
- Mould Remediation: We safely treat and remove all visible mould using professional-grade biocides, ensuring the spores are fully eradicated from the affected surfaces.
- Ventilation Assessment: Our surveyors will assess your property's current ventilation and identify areas for improvement.
- Extractor Fan Installation: We install powerful, quiet, and efficient extractor fans in kitchens and bathrooms to remove moisture at the source.
- Positive Input Ventilation (PIV): For whole-house solutions, we can install a PIV system. This unit, typically placed in the loft, gently supplies fresh, filtered air into the home, creating positive pressure that pushes out stale, humid air and drastically reduces condensation.
