Leak Investigation
Advanced diagnostics to find and fix hidden water leaks, fast.
The Challenge of Hidden Leaks
A hidden water leak from plumbing, roofing, or central heating systems can be one of the most destructive problems a property owner can face. Even a small, slow leak can release hundreds of litres of water over time, causing widespread damage to your property's structure, promoting rot and mould, and leading to expensive repairs.
The biggest challenge is locating the exact source. Water can travel a long way from the origin of the leak before it becomes visible, making traditional detection methods disruptive and often inaccurate. That's where our specialist leak detection services come in.
Thermal imaging can "see" hidden moisture behind walls.
Unexplained water stains are a clear sign of a hidden leak.
When to Suspect a Hidden Leak
If you notice any of the following signs, it's crucial to act quickly to minimise damage:
Unexplained Damp Patches
The appearance of damp on walls, ceilings, or floors with no obvious cause.
Sudden Drop in Boiler Pressure
If you regularly need to top up the pressure in your central heating system, you likely have a leak.
High Water Bills
A sudden, unexplained increase in your water bill can indicate a constant leak in your mains supply.
Sound of Running Water
Hearing water running, dripping, or hissing when no taps are on is a clear sign of a leak.
Our Non-Invasive Detection Methods
We use a combination of cutting-edge, non-destructive technologies to pinpoint the exact location of leaks without having to cause unnecessary damage to your property.
Acoustic devices can hear leaks deep within pipes.
Tracer gas sensors can detect the smallest of pipe leaks.
Our Toolkit Includes:
- Thermal Imaging: Our thermal cameras detect the minute temperature differences caused by escaping water, allowing us to "see" leaks behind walls, under floors, and within ceilings.
- Acoustic Listening Devices: Highly sensitive microphones are used to listen for the specific sound frequencies of water escaping from a pressurised pipe, even deep underground.
- Tracer Gas Detection: For particularly difficult leaks, we introduce a safe, inert gas into the pipework. This gas escapes at the leak point and rises to the surface, where it is detected by our specialist sensors.
- Moisture Meters: We use professional-grade moisture meters and protimeters to map the extent of the damp and confirm the presence of moisture within building materials.
